The Duke

Where golf, entrepreneurship, and hospitality come together

Founded with passion and courage

Founder Karel van Eerd didn’t think small. He had a vision that extended beyond just a golf course and the courage to bring it to life without hesitation. Together with his wife Kitty, he built an estate unlike any other: in classic English grandeur, constructed from old parsonage stones, timeless and warm. As if it had always belonged here.

Our History

From Dream to The Duke Estate

The landscape surrounding The Duke has a history dating back thousands of years. Traces from the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Roman period, among others, have been found in the area. The area also played various roles in more recent history, including during World War II. A regional landfill was eventually planned for this site. Instead, one of the most beautiful estates in the Netherlands now stands here.

The Duke opened modestly in 1991, with nine holes. But modestymodesty was never the goal. An 18-hole championship course, luxury suites, the fine-dining restaurant The Charles, and a business club that offers entrepreneurs a second home: what Karel and Kitty van Eerd started is being carried on by the next generation with the same care and passion.
